The Joggers

The group meet at Hollybush recreation ground in Sevenoaks. We were formed over five years ago & have a membership of over 100 ladies aged from 23 to 69. In the last three years 16 ladies have trained for and completed the London Marathon, having never run before joining the group.

Most of the group are tempted by the challenge of a short race, many however just like to run 3 to 5 miles once or twice a week and enjoy the social aspect of the group as much as the fitness. Many of the ladies who have joined the group have found it a life changing experience, either assisting them to lose weight, fight depression, gain confidence to get a new job or just feel good about themselves again. And this is in addition to all the positive fitness benefits gained whilst enjoying the beauty of Knole Park and the surrounding Weald countryside.

As the organiser of the group I have many years of coaching experience and am highly qualified to encourage, support and nag where necessary to help everyone to achieve their individual goals and ensure that everyone's needs are met.

I am a qualified teacher, Athletics Coach level 2 and Registered General nurse and fitball instructor, so you are in good hands!!

Joining your running group was the best thing I did.

Everyone is so friendly and what I like is we are all different people of different ages doing the same thing. The social side is fantastic, I moved down south in 2000 and can honestly say up until joining your group never felt settled. This is now not the case I have made many great new friends and look forward to Monday and Wednesday every week.

I had tried to run alone before I joined the group but was very unsuccessful- I hated it so gave up.

After joining the group I lost one and a half stone in 9 months, but the change in my shape is what was the best result,

You are a true inspiration and having such a great group kept me going I would not have achieved any of this without your support.

I was made incredibly welcome by everyone. It was a relief that people did not talk about prep schools, common entrance, husbands jobs, cars, houses etc.

I had run previously and done a few races but not for 15 years so was a bit apprehensive. However, the running group allows everyone to go at their own pace but also to improve. I have always enjoyed running and doing anything outside but as usual we all make excuses (it's raining, too cold, etc) so it is good to be in a group.

I have found everyone, without exception, incredibly supportive.

The girls' nights out are fantastic and great fun.My body has toned up rather than changed shape and I am certainly a lot fitter than I used to be.
