Beginners' courses
If you've never run before (or not for a long time), our 10 week beginners'
course is for you. It is designed for those of you who would like to learn
to run, for fitness and for fun. Absolutely no experience is necessary,
just a sense of humour, and a willingness to have a go!
Many of our ladies worry about being able to keep up, but we build up so
gradually that you'll be fine. Your coach will show you how to run slowly
enough to keep going, and we stick together and look after each other so
that no one ever gets left behind. All the beginners are in the same boat,
and you will find yourself running alongside a wide variety of women and
chatting away as you go. It’s very sociable, and the coach is very good at
getting everybody talking!
We follow a walk/run programme, starting with very short bursts of running
and gradually building up. We’ll also ask you to do ‘homework’ once a week
to build up your stamina. This will involve repeating pretty much what you've done with your coach.
For the beginners' course consistency is key, so we encourage you to come every week. If you can't come on your usual day for some reason, you are welcome to come to another beginners’ session to make up for it.
Don't rush out and buy any special running gear before the course starts,
just wear any pair of trainers (but not MBTs please) and some loose,
comfortable clothing and a good supportive bra. Your coach will give you
plenty of advice about running shoes and other gear in the first weeks.
At the end of the course most ladies will be fit enough to join another
group on a Monday, Wednesday or Saturday morning at 9.15 a.m. or the evening
session on a Wednesday evening at 7.30 p.m.
The course costs £60 for 10 weeks, including tuition and advice from your
Coach.

Wednesday mornings 11am 21st April until 30th June
Wednesday evenings 7.30pm 21st April until 30th June
Friday mornings 9.15 am 23rd April until 2nd July
Saturday mornings 11am 24th April until 3rd July

I would just like to say that without you and Shona & Jo many of us would never have even tried running, much less persevered, because you have all made it such fun to do - which is why we get up early on a grey damp Saturday morning to run and chat while incidentally improving our fitness and feeling good about ourselves!
